Red One provides the necessary training required to complete the taxi test for those applying to their Local Authority / Licensing Committee for their taxi licence. Our Taxi training is delivered by one of our ADI’s (Approved Driving Instructors) and the assessment will test the driver to DVSA taxi test standards.
The development part of the training provides an overall review and develops the drivers understanding and skills to a higher level along with the option to work on specific areas of concern identified by either the driver or the trainer. The assessment tests the driving standards of the individual to DVSA taxi test standard. This test will allow no more than 9 driving faults, NO serious faults, and NO dangerous faults.
As best practice we recommend that before attending your course you refresh your knowledge of the Highway Code ensuring you are up to date with any recent changes.
Outcomes:
Pass: If the driver achieves a pass, they will receive the test report and pass certificate.
Fail: If the driver has 1 serious driving fault, 1 dangerous driving fault or 10 or more driving faults, this will be a failure. A copy of this will be given to the candidate.
Taxi driver training will normally include:
- Pre-drive inspection
- Theory of recognition, control, and prevention of incidents
- Systematic driving
- Use of commentary
- Coping with distractions
- Emergency procedures
- Passenger care, including disability awareness.
- Questions in line with DVSA – show and tell.
- On road drive to include different road types, reversing and manoeuvres.
